Five Days Tour of Imereti and Svaneti

 Private Tour Introduction:

 On this five days private tour we will visit two provinces of Georgia: Imereti and Svaneti.

 Imereti is historic region of Western Georgia, rich with beautiful nature, history and culture. Along the way we will see capital and biggest city of the region – Kutaisi and among its numerous historic sites we will see Gelati Monastery, Bagrati Cathedral, Motsameta Monastery. 

 You will visit Prometheus Cave – one of Georgia’s natural wonders and one of the largest in the world, with underground river.

 Will visit Martvili Canyon – will enjoy the scenery, its waterfalls and take a boat ride in the river with deep green color.

 The most exited part of this tour is visiting Svaneti, the region that is called crown of Caucasus – the most mysterious and magnificent part of Georgia.

 Svaneti, the mythical western province of Georgia,  lies high up in the Greater Caucasus. By traveling in this isolated, attractive and remote areas we will explore the hidden Treasures of Georgia – a land of extraordinary beauty with its highlands dotted by medieval villages and Svanetian defensive towers – Koshki. Visit one of the highest permanent inhabited places in Europe – Village Ushguli in Upper Svaneti, which is included in UNESCO world Heritage Sites, will enjoy a stunning view of MT. Shkhara (5201m) the highest peak in Georgia. 

 On the way back, we will stop in Zugdidi at Dadiani Palace and will arrive in Tbilisi later in the evening.

Tour Highlights:

Day 1.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Tbilisi and start tour driving to Kutaisi, will see Gelati Cathedral, Motsameta Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral on this evening and stay overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 2.

This day we will start by visiting Prometheus Cave; Martvili Canyon and drive to Svaneti, will stop by The Enguri Dam – hydroelectric dam on the Enguri River. Currently it is the world’s second highest concrete arch dam with a height of 271.5 meters. Will arrive in Mestia later in the evening and stay overnight at a local guesthouse.

Day 3.

After breakfast we will walk up to Chalaidi Glecier; after lunch walk around the  Mestia, visit ancient Svan house of Margiani, museum of history and ethnography. Will drive up to Hatsvali Mountain. Overnight in Mestia.

Day 4.

After Breakfast will drive to Europe’s Highest permanent settlement Ushguli (2060-2200m), located 50km from Mestia at the foot of Shkhara summit. The Ushguli village contains old Svan towers and buildings that are part of the UNESCO Heritage site of Upper Svaneti. There are about 70 families living in Ushguli (around 200 people). Spend time in Ushguli strolling old narrow streets. Visit Lamaria Church complex with impressive 12th century wall frescoes. Locals believe that Queen Tamar was buried under this church. Enjoy picturesque view of the Mount Shkhara. Return to Mestia to enjoy delicious traditional dinner made of Svan dishes. Overnight in Mestia.

Day 5.

We will leave Mestia in the morning and start driving back to Tbilisi, on the way will make stop in Zugdidi and visit Dadiani Palace – Historical and Architectural Museum – Palace of Megrelian prince David Dadiani and Princess Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani,  one of the most eminent palaces in Caucasus.

We will arrive back in Tbilisi later in the evening.
