Wine Tasting & Culinary Tour

 Private Tour Introduction:

On this private tour we will take you to East Georgia, Kakheti – region which has one of the richest history, traditions, culture and is considered as birthplace of wine. Kakhetians are very proud of their winemaking traditions, wine grapes have been cultivated in these lands for 8,000 years, which, archaeologists say, makes Kakheti the cradle of wine. The unique Georgian way of making wine was passed on to generations through the ages. UNESCO added the ancient traditional Georgian wine making method using the Kvevri clay jars to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.

Kakheti is famous not only with it’s wine, also with diverse and delicious cuisine. The Georgian cuisine in general, is unique to the country, but also carries some influences from other European and nearby Middle Eastern culinary traditions. Each historical province of Georgia has its own distinct culinary tradition. In Kakheti you will be able to taste: traditional white bread baked in huge clay jugs – Tone; Mtsvadi – Grilled pork or beef skewers – one of the most popular dishes, made outdoors, on an open fire; Khinkali – Georgian dumpling made of twisted knobs of dough, stuffed with meat and spices; Khachapuri –  traditional Georgian dish of cheese-filled bread; large variety of cheese and vegetarian dishes.

Along the historic sights, we will visit wineries for wine tasting and have lunch and culinary masterclass with local family, who will prepare the food right in front of you and give you the chance to experience Georgian hospitality and taste traditional food.
